February: The month when everyone seemingly forgets about their resolutions.
Believe it or not, January flew by. And statistically 80% of people who set themselves resolutions have already faltered.
So, how do you make sure that you are not one of the many that falls short of your priorities for the new year?
Here, we’ve teamed up with expert personal trainer LEO SAVAGE .
Savage, who is a former Harelquins rugby player and works for London gym Third Space among others, specialises in weight loss and nutrition advice.
And in his first Mirror Sport fitness column, Leo runs through three key things that every gym-goer should do to set them on their pathway to success…
1) SHARE YOUR GOALS
Creating a goal is only part of the journey, sharing it is one of the other parts.
Add a sense of accountability to your goals and discuss them with a friend or family member.
You increase the likelihood of achieving your goals by 65% if you share them, so what are you waiting for.
2) MAKE A PLAN
Whether you are trying to get fitter, lose weight or even save a certain amount of money, figuring out the steps to get to your end goal will make the process a lot less daunting.
Breaking a big goal into smaller milestones, lets you focus on achieving the smaller things whilst slowly getting closer to the end goal.
Lose 2 stone overall = 2kg/month over 6 months = control eating and exercise each week.
3) CREATE A GOAL THAT MEANS SOMETHING TO YOU
Undoubtedly there are going to be hurdles throughout the year that will get in the way of you reaching your goals.
When this happens, it is far easier to shut shop and give in, especially if you have set a superficial goal.
If you choose something that really resonates to you or family, you are far more likely to be resilient.
